On November 2, 2015, Cloudwatt adopted the JUNO release of OpenStack.
On this new version, the OpenStack community had decided to change the backups enforcement procedure to improve the consistency of snapshots that were not guaranteed by the “hot snapshot” (no flush of data RAM and no blocking File System to prevent code writing during the snapshot).
Kilo of Liberty release notes do not plan to return to the functionality “hot snapshot “.
Principle of “ cold snapshot “: when launching a snapshot via the console or the CLI API, the “Image-Create” command is executed. The “ cold snapshot” is then launched with a “Suspend-Resume” at the VM level, the time to record its status, thus ensuring the consistency of the snapshot.
Depending of the typology of the VM, we noted up to several seconds interruptions.
